With
the revival of Victorian romanticism, The Beverly Clark Collection offers
you the largest array of antique reproduction keepsakes, known as the
"Tussy Mussy". These posey holders were originally used in
ancient Egypt with fresh flowers to ward off foul odors. They were revived
in the 19th century as a symbol of status and affluent lifestyle. Easily
portable, these little holders were designed to hold nosegays which could
be held on a finger or attached to the lady's chatelaine (a belt hook or
clasp used to hold objects, such as a memo pad, used daily in earlier
times).
Usually
three to six inches in length, the posey holders were cone or cup-shaped
on one end and had a slender handle to which was fastened a small length
of chain attached to a ring. The chain and ring enabled the piece to hang
from the finger or belt hook.
Available
in Goldplate or Silverplate, the Rose Garden Tussy Mussy is an exquisite
accent to your memorable day. Other Tussy Mussies include Trumpet Blossom
(Goldplated or Silverplated), Pearlescent Sceptor, and Princess Diana (in
Pewter or Silverplated).
